Director of Recreation
Mike Rodier enters his tenth year at Assumption in 2017-18, where he serves as the Director of Recreation. Rodier previously served as the Coordinator of Recreation before being promoted to this position in June 2016.
In his role as the Coordinator of Recreation, Rodier was responsible for the oversight of the Intramural Program, the Club Sports Program and the Fitness Classes that Campus Recreation offers. In addition to these duties Rodier also assisted with the daily running and managing of the Plourde Recreation Center and its staff.
In his position as equipment manager, Rodier was responsible for the issuing, maintaining and collection of all athletic equipment. In the fall of 2014, Rodier implemented a full-scale inventory system using SportSoft, which allows for up-to-the-minute inventory tracking for each of the college's intercollegiate athletic programs. He was also responsible for managing a comprehensive budget for the equipment room, tracking expenses for each athletic program including game equipment, uniforms and other expenditures. In addition, he helped coordinate the usage of athletic logos on the athletic uniforms and practice gear, working on conjunction with the athletic communications office and Kangaroo Crossing, the department's official apparel vendor.
In addition to his day-to-day duties, Rodier also serves the tournament director for the annual Laska Yuletide Invitational High School Basketball Tournament.
A 2006 undergraduate of Assumption, Rodier earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in history. In addition, he earned his MBA from Assumption in May 2012. As an undergraduate at Assumption, Rodier worked in the athletic department as a work study student during his four years.
Rodier currently resides in Oxford, Mass., with his wife, Meghan, their son, Tim, and their daughter Elise.
Assistant Director of Recreation
Jason Ryan begins his second year at Assumption College as Assistant Director of Recreation. He oversees daily operations of Intramural and Club Sports.
Prior to Assumption, Ryan obtained his Master’s degree in Education with a focus in the Post-Secondary field at Salisbury University on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. At Salisbury he held the Graduate Assistant position for Intramural and Club Sports. During his two years at SU he was in charge of marketing the program through social media channels, training and supervising student workers, facility operations, and much more. Ryan was also the Head Coach of the Women’s Club Soccer team at the University.
During his undergraduate career he attended Northeast-10 rival American International College majoring in Communications and minoring in Sports Recreational Management. Ryan was also a 4-year member of the Yellow Jackets Men’s Soccer team. Throughout his career he was given many honors, most notable a 2-time NE-10 3rd Team All-Conference selection.
Ryan is originally from Peabody on the North Shore of Massachusetts.
Program and Events Coordinator/Women's Rowing Head Coach
Aline Seekins begins her second year working for the Department of Campus Recreation. Aline is responsible for the planning and executing of the Department's Fitness Classes and working with all internal and external groups who rent the Plourde Recreation Center. In addition to these duties she is entering her second full season as the Head Coach of the Assumption Women’s Rowing program in 2016-2017.
In 2015-2016, the Hounds novice four boat earned a spot on the Novice Four Grand Final at the New England Rowing Championships and the varsity four boat qualified for the Varsity Four Petite Final. The Hounds also set a program record in the novice four race at the Northeast-10 Championships with a time of 8:02.95.
Prior to Assumption, Seekins was an Assistant Women’s Rowing Coach at Florida Institute of Technology for two seasons. While at FIT, she taught novice rowers and assisted with varsity practices, along with coordinating recruiting efforts and assisting with preparation of home regattas.
From 2009-2012, Seekins was a three-year member of the FIT varsity rowing team, where she was named to the 2009-2010 Novice All-Conference Team and was a three-time All-Conference selection overall.
Aline currently resides in Westboro, MA.
Cheryl Cote serves as the aquatics coordinator with the Assumption College Department of Athletics and Recreation and works in the Plourde Recreation Center.
In her position, Cote administers the Learn to Swim program while also training the lifeguard staff at the Plourde Pool. A water safety instructor and lifeguard instructor, she works as a full-time teacher at North High School in Worcester.
Cote is a 1994 graduate of Assumption, where she graduated with a degree in English and psychology.
